No one can doubt the passion that Craig Carlton has for basketball. He began his relationship with the game growing up in Houston and playing for legendary Houston Memorial High School Head Basketball Coach Don Coleman, earning all-district and all-Greater-Houston honors. Coleman was the second winningest coach in the nation at the time, posting 26 consecutive 20-plus-win seasons and 800-plus victories as well as multiple state titles.

Carlton went on to star at the University of Texas. As Longhorn Hoops, The History of Texas Basketball tells it, he became the team’s “floor general” in the mid-1980s. He was especially known for dishing the rock, finishing second in the conference one year in assists. Carlton went on to earn his degree in civil engineering and embark on a highly successful entrepreneurial path in the business world.

Today, those skills as a “floor general” have made C.C. Carlton Industries Central Texas’s preeminent site development and construction firm. And just like on the basketball court, Carlton continues to share the wealth. Carlton and his companies are major donors to Ronald McDonald House and Girl Scouts of America as well as Austin Rodeo and various youth sports groups.

Additionally, Carlton’s energy, which is in great abundance as most will attest, has been poured into his desire to create a basketball program that is second to none when it comes to having a positive impact on the lives of young men and providing the kind of exposure that will lead to opportunities in college basketball.  ASAK Nation is that program.
