After dropping the first game against Team Faith, Urban ASAK roared back with four consecutive wins on their way to a bracket championship trophy.

Urban ASAK is once again a champion after taking down UC Hoops in the semifinal and the Rim Rockers in the title game.

At first, it didn’t look like the team would secure a spot in the championship game. Urban ASAK trailed UC Hoops in the semifinal by as many as 15 points before the team settled in and played its brand of basketball – defense, rebounding and ball movement. Not only did ASAK catch up to UC Hoops, but they ended up winning by a comfortable 15-point margin, 84-69.

Jamal Shead led the team in scoring for that game with 22 points and Darius McBride followed with 15.

The championship game went a little differently. Urban ASAK got out to an early lead and controlled the tempo for the first half, but relented a bit in the first few minutes of the second half. However, McBride came alive and provided the team the offensive boost it needed, scoring 15 of his 27 points in the second half to lift ASAK over Level Up 69-60.

The team’s second leading scorer was Shead, who finished with 12, followed by Shasirae Harvey and Sam Latham with nine each.
