It was an easy W for Urban ASAK on Friday night at the Great American Shootout in San Antonio, when they beat the SA Soldiers by a relentless 40 points.

Saturday’s game was a slightly different story. After getting behind the Houston Superstars by 14 points, ASAK turned up its defense and came all the way back to within three points with just a few seconds to go.
Then this happened:

Jamal Shead hit the clutch three-pointer as time expired to lift ASAK into overtime. Each team exchanged a pair of buckets and the first overtime ended the same way it started – all tied up.
In the second overtime, Darius McBride gave the team an early lead with this three-point play:

Unfortunately, the Houston Superstars responded with a string of made shots to put them in the driver’s seat as time expired. A series of fouls and missed free throws by the Superstars gave ASAK a chance to win the game, down 60-59 with just seconds remaining.

The shots just wouldn’t fall as time expired, resulting in a stunning one-point loss. Jamal Shead finished with 18 points, Braelon Seals had 16 and Darius McBride scored eight in an impressive team effort, despite the result.
Urban ASAK can still win its bracket, though, and will attempt to do so starting tomorrow at 2:50 p.m.
